Believe it or not, you can actually be charged for animal cruelty for flushing that thing while it's still alive. Any intent to cause harm can land you a long long time in jail. Take for example, this guy put a bunch of detergent into a pond/fountain in a business complex as a joke. He meant to make the fountain foam up but killed all of the Koi, he's doin' some serious time right now.

Yeah, I hear ya on wanting to get rid of it though... You could always feed it to one of your dogs, just a suggestion. angeldevil

hmmm I could put it in their pool, then Technically it wouldn't be animal cruelty if one of the other dogs just happened to eat it. It'd be nature taking its course.....hmmm......

I had a population problem for a quick minute, gotta thank my dogs for the help on that one. Even though the fish were on the valuable side, I just couldn't rehome them and didn't feel like buying yet another tank. I just put them in my hand and fed the ones I didn't want to the dogs. Honestly, if it's being consumed by an animal then there's no cruelty about it.

Welcome to the site, and yup as far as fish go, I can give you some tips. Get a heater for the tank, and go out and buy yourself a Cichlid or 2 (depending on your tank size), and they will take care of your goldfish for you... once they are big enough to eat/kill it that is.

Like little rainbow sharks??? Mostly because they are scavengers and the eat what falls to the bottom. They are also very sensative to the nitrogen and amonia levels of the tank, monitoring the levels is a must do

In reality, goldfish are harder to take care! They produce heavy amounts of amonia, thus, need more space. The rule of themb is one gallon of water per inch of fish, gold fish is double

Are you talking about Bala Sharks? I guess it depends on your water conditions. I don't know much about them, but have heard that they are pretty hardy fish, so as long as your water is clean and free of too much nitrates, I don't see why they would die.

My latest addition to my tank is a Midas, and I believe now that it's gotten bigger it killed my pleco (sucker fish):

Yeah, Balas are pretty hardy... Guess it's a question of how established the aquarium is. Beautiful, is that a Convict swimming in the background there?

Not only that, but we also don't know if the temperature is correct, because I believe goldfish can survive in cold water, where all the other fish need warmth.

RedDoggy wrote:

Yup, that's actually a child of my convict pair that I have. My convicts spawned and out of the 40 or so, 4 of them survived. So I now have 6 convicts in there, along with my Jack Dempsey, and Electric Yellow (yellow lab).
