| For Socket I used Chicken soup for large breed puppy and LOVED it (anyone got any input on that food) I had Nutro and hated him on it his stole was AWEFUL and nasty. But with the new pup i have a ?..will i use a large breed food or just puppy formula? | |

| Unless your dog is going to end up way oversized, I'd just use a regular puppy food, or all-stages food. | |

| thanks..i wasnt sure when a dog was "large" breed..socket was with the lab I didn't think a normal pit was Large.do u know anything about the chicken soup line of food? | |

| I personally am a big fan of Orijen.... Here is a good website for finding a good kibble IMO Dog Food Analysisbahamutt is right you don't need "large" breed and an All Life Stages is a good way to go! | |

| Orijen was one I looked at but a guy at the feed store compaired the chicken soup and other ones and it was compairable and about half the price.Going to look now at analysis I know one of those is where I found socket food. | |

From what I saw on the analysis website, the difference in price, is because Orijen (6*) is double the quality than Chicken Soup (3*). I'm not sure if I was looking at the right "Chicken Soup" brand, but they mentioned Diamond in the reviews, and the use of Ethoxyquin as a preservative in the past, supposedly not being used anymore though. | |

| No the one I am using is the 5* one thats hoslic not the other one...there is 2 on the 3* and like 4-5 more that are 5* | |

You're right, I looked at the wrong place I had looked at the part that said Reviews, and there was 3, so I thought that was the rating, lol. In that case it does appear to be good, and not double the quality, however, because it's made by Diamond, I wouldn't buy it. | |

| Well if its decent then I'm keeping it because it worked miracles on Socket boy..he was bones....that got him looking well and made his coat shine and its cost is decent compaired to others. Its 21.00 and change for 20 pound bag | |

| Thanks again...for your help tellin me its good...I know food alot on health and I was raised with mutts who got scaps and ol'Roy so I did do some dog food research when I got socket so I wouldn't make that mistake.Nutro what was brag on but I found some issues in it and with my dog after eating it so I started using the chicken soup and its good.The cats like it better then their cat food.=0P | |
